Express Welding was founded in 1983 by Duane & Patricia
Scheuren. In its first facility in Gladstone, MI, Express Welding
began as an OEM manufacturer of Pup Trailers and Truck Racks for the
logging industry. Two years later Express Welding moved to
one of the buildings in the former Harnischfeger complex in Escanaba,
MI. This is where Express Welding can still be found.
After the move to Escanaba, Duane partnered with Donald Casperson to
form D&D Manufacturing and developed the Silver Streak Tree
Harvester. The Silver Streak was a processing head that was mounted
on the boom of an excavator. It would cut down trees, de-limb them
and cut & stack them in 8 foot lengths. This was a prosperous
time for Express Welding and D&D Manufacturing. Unfortunately,
the logging industry slowed down significantly - so much that
D&D Manufacturing could no longer remain operational and was
dissolved. Fortunately, Express Welding was able to
continue manufacturing Pup Trailers and Truck Racks.
Since then, Express Welding has developed several additional products:
a Detachable Lowboy style trailer for hauling with a pick-up truck;
a telescopic, shipping container hauling trailer
with loading cranes and several products for the heavy hauling
industry. For more information on Express Welding's products, use the
